SPE’s Annual Technical Conference(ANTEC), May 1–5, 2005, in Boston: Medical Plastics Keynote Speaker, Tuesday May 3 Medical Device Coatings – Getting Back to Basics

Ninety percent of the products in the world are coated for functional or aesthetic purposes. Medical devices have long employed coatings to improve device performance and enhance patient comfort and health. One main application is drug delivery, with hydrophilic, antimicrobial, and antithrombogenic coatings available, among others. Peg’s keynote address highlighted the basics of coating technologies, economics, and intellectual property considerations, and she cited specific case studies to illustrate.

    Testimonials:

“Technically speaking, Peg is one of the smartest people I know in the industry. She was a great resource to all the design engineers in developing new products, as well as to process engineers in manufacturing.”

—Kirti Kamdar, Engineering Director, medical device manufacturer

“Peg’s principal strengths are her well-developed project management skills, knowledge in her field, strong interpersonal skills, and her ability to identify worthwhile ventures early in the process. She has a creative mind and is able to articulate technical subjects in a practical, understandable way—conscientious, professional in all ways.”

—Kevin Staid, Manufacturing Director, venture capital start-up

Coatings2Gos took to the challenge of coating our product easily and readily, while other companies indicated that our specs couldn’t be met. The sample sent to Coatings2Go were returned promptly with a very impressive coating, a simple manufacturing process, and a convenient business model of buying the know-how and reagents directly. Overall we are very impressed with Coatings2Go capabilities and user friendliness, and highly recommend them to anyone with coating needs.
